Benefit Concert

Here's the big project we've been planning. A benefit concert for CareNet, a local pregnancy resource center!! It will take place February 3rd, 2012, at Faith Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, WA. We hope to raise at least $4,000, for them to use in whatever way they see fit.

Just recently, the manager of a Planned Parenthood office in Sherman, Texas resigned due to prayers and God's tugging at her heart. Also, the $34+ million that was going to Planned Parenthood was struck down! These two events caused the Sherman office to close down. Praise be to God! Here is a video with most of the details:

Operation Conversion

Whether or not this video is "news" is irrelevant because the concerned individual is still very much in the business of taking innocent lives. The outrage of the fact that he--of all people who know (or should know) the value of human life--so blatantly defies God's law in order to profit under the guise of humanitarian compassion for women has not been surpassed in any sickening age of the world.

On the official Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health website, Dr. Boyd is quoted as follows: "It's work that I'm very proud of. I have never experienced a greater level of gratitude from patients or the feeling that I made a real difference in their life, and really in the life of our society. So the work has been satisfying. It's never ceased to feel rewarding and to feel that I'm doing something good and something important."

Experienced gratitude from patients? I'll bet he's never asked a dead child.
A difference in their life? I'm sure. (see What a Pain. and Psychological Aftermath below)
A difference in society? Definitely. (see Numbers below) Well, let's be glad he feels good about himself.

It is more than tempting to despair when faced with such tragedy; and yet the most powerful counteraction to the Devil's designs is prayer. It was through prayer that God worked to save Abby Johnson, once a Planned Parenthood director who now prays against abortion. On her website, under "OPERATION CONVERSION," Johnson makes a special request to fellow Christians:
"Please pray for Dr. Curtis Boyd. Dr. Boyd provides abortion services up to 30 weeks gestation. He employs many late term abortionists to work for him at his facility. He currently works in the state of New Mexico. Please commit with me to pray for Dr. Boyd and cover him in prayer every day for 7 days. This is not a call to contact him or his facility.

**Please post this on your Facebook wall, send to your prayer groups, talk to your minister, post on a prayer chain, or do whatever you can to get this message out. The goal is to have as many people praying for this physician at one time. We know the power of prayer is amazing and can change any heart. Thank you for your commitment!"

Uncertainty

Why are people SO willing to be certain in the midst of uncertainty on the most crucial issues? If you ask two different pro-choice advocates when life begins, there is a good chance they will give two different answers, whether its this many months after conception or directly after birth. However, neither will be willing to say that their opinion is based on a final, once-and-for-all proven verdict. Rather if they are educated they will concede that the facts are still "debatable" simply because others have THEIR opinions to contend with. In fact, they may both say that they just don't know. Do they realize what consequences they're toying with? If you tell them two and two make five based on your mathematical opinion they'll ask if you're from Mars, because no logical human being on earth would ever believe you. One reason no logical human being on earth would ever believe you is because if two and two made five none of our planes would be flying. But when it comes to abortion, women's rights are all they will talk about regardless if abortion is murder. If that's the best justification they can give for aborting babies, who for all they know are real people, then I can prove that two and two make five. Want to know how? Evolution!

Politics

A while back we considered some of the major costs abortion has caused our society and economy as a whole. While we may blanch at the statistics it isn't as though they were caused by some unforeseen and unrelated design. Rather, the realm of politics and the influence of money and power has so shaped our culture that many people tend not to see the future consequences of their actions.

Ours is a country of the here and now. If you are not at all convinced by this statement let me remind you in what a predicament your country is in. The U.S. economic bubble burst long ago and our economy is still feeling the aftershocks from an ever weakening market. We have spent more than we can afford and have left the debt bills to my generation and those generations soon to follow. I am not exceedingly bitter over the matter, but the fact is that nobody has looked out for the children of future generations. Rather they have spent all on themselves and invested in non-existent profits.

Now with that little sidetrack out of the way, here's the issue. As I've said before, these facts should not be wholly unexpected. And the facts are:

1. Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the U.S. of A.
2. Tax payer money supports Planned Parenthood (willingly or otherwise).
3. Planned Parenthood possesses lobbyists, which are always ready at the doors of Washington D.C. to pass new bills and gain support for its cause.
4. Planned Parenthood is currently in high favor with many government officials.
5.

You'll notice I didn't write a fifth fact. The reason is because we first must answer a question that should immediately jump out at you upon reading the second and fourth facts. And that question is, "Why?" Why is an abortion provider recieving $360 million annually in government funds to fuel its butchering industry? Is it because most government officials in the House and Congress are pro-choice? Is it because they are sympathetic to women's monopolized health care providers? Is it because they simply want what's best for women?

I'm convinced many would say "yes" to all of the above. Besides, they might argue that there's nothing currently wrong with our monopolized health care providers. But there may be something more sinister, even more controversial than these issues.

5. "Both Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America are considered the most active lobbyists on the pro-choice side of the issue, as well as the most generous contributors to federal candidates, parties and committees."

Which federal candidates, parties, and committees you may ask? Liberal ones.

"Abortion-rights groups continue to give far more contributions and spend far more on lobbying than their anti-abortion opponents." This message was brought to you by your friendly inquisitor Open Secrets.

Now, I see no problem whatsoever in gaining governmental support for a controversial issue. However, there is no legitimate reason for having the government FUND an organization whether pro-life or pro-choice. That is to say, let pro-lifers pay out of their own pockets and pro-choicers out of theirs. The utter hypocrisy of Planned Parenthood in particular is that it recieves tax-payer dollars from pro-lifers and pro-choicers alike. THEN, they take some of that money and give it to their favorite liberal politicians, who out of the benevolence of their hears will strive to give pro-choice organizations "good deals" via legislation. Now with a pocket full of cash, the liberals can campaign once again for a seat in Congress.

Does Care Net perform the same atrocities? Not with pure donations it can't! In the political system (or any other system), Care Net doesn't steal from pro-choice activists through taxation or any other means. It is honest debating, not bribery.

This in large part is why some if not most liberal government officials support pro-choice organizations. And since they currently dominate Congress and the White House, it is no wonder that the pro-choice side is thriving in the midst of a recession. Read between the lines! Politicians do not habitually create charity funds to support other groups. Their first priority is their livelihood and sometimes popularity. If they have to circulate (steal) tax payer dollars to get ahead, some are willing to do it. The sad fact is, lives are lost simply because a House member thinks his butt would feel really good in a particular chair for another two years.

A Message from Darwin: The Odds Are Against Us

“Protection of the life of the mother as an excuse for an abortion is a smoke screen. In my thirty-six years in pediatric surgery I have never known of one instance where the child had to be be aborted to save the mother's life,” says Dr. C. Everett Koop. According to the former Surgeon General, most abortions in the United States are not performed because of physical defect in the unborn, but because the woman simply did not want the child. Less than 5% of all abortions are cases of rape or incest, threat to the mother's life, or severely defective offspring.

With this understanding, I will attempt to prove the inconsistencies of the pro-choice evolutionist.

According to the “Father of Evolution,” the evolution of a species depends upon its ability to reproduce. In his own words:
“...If such [variations useful to man] do occur, can we doubt (remembering that many more individuals are born than can possibly survive) that individuals having any advantage, however slight, over others, would have the best chance of surviving and of procreating their kind?...This preservation of favourable individual differences and variations...I have called Natural Selection, or the Survival of the Fittest” (--Charles Darwin, On the Origin of Species).

So it doesn't matter if the fetus isn't “viable”—if it doesn't express advantageous traits, its own species will naturally prevent it from spreading its undesirability without even killing it, that is, without the aid of unnatural abortion.

“Populations of organisms change over the course of many generations. Many of these changes result in increased survival and reproduction. This phenomenon is evolution. Biological evolution refers to the changes that populations of organisms will accumulate over many generations.” A true evolutionist might wonder how many of the millions of unwanted aborted babies may actually have had a “change” resulting in “increased survival and protection”— that is, how many might have been an “advantage” in the gene pool of humanity, had they been allowed to survive. “One of the 7 characteristics of life is reproduction. To sustain life, organisms must produce others like themselves; the genetic material maintains continuity over the generations” (--study helps on McGraw-Hill's Brooker Biology website). We're killing ourselves off.

So in evolutionary terms, the more babies born alive, the greater the chances that a beneficial mutation will occur, and over time be ingrafted into the human race. (I don't happen to believe that “beneficial mutations” exist at all, but according to the theory, they are responsible for our success as a species.)

But since abortion removes this ability, how can abortion be beneficial to humans as a species, even from a non-ethical, non-moral point of view? Abortion decreases the rate of production, and therefore increases the odds against potential improvement. Look at all our reasoning abilities, our technological and scientific advances, cultural developments, etc. If humans have got this far, why shouldn't we be able to reach even greater heights as a species—unless abortion heaps up the odds against us?

We've covered quite a few issues dealing with moral, spiritual, emotion, and physical aspects of abortion. I find however, that numbers always seem to fascinate me as much or more than the former, partly because I have been brought up with the understanding that from a Christian perspective, there is something fundamentally flawed with abortion. But what if we were to fight on a different front? What if somebody disregarded your arguments as Christian bigotry, no matter how convincing? I'm not saying that God's Word and Holy Spirit are not powerful enough to change a man's perspective and/or life, but there must be an alternative way to argue that can convince even the staunchest pro-choice apologist. And there is.

Math has never been my favorite subject. Like many things in life, I have to actually work to understand it. But as a defender of human rights, including those of the unborn, math is your friend. I'm hoping in these next two or three articles to cover more economical, statistical, and political approaches to the pro-life cause. These hopefully will give some readers a better understanding of how to fight the enemy on his own turf. My primary goal is to explain what abortion has done to the nation as a whole and why our government is in favor of continually supporting the industry. Take emotion and God completely out of the picture and you're left with a calculator.

Let's begin in appendix 1 of E. Calvin Beisner's 1990 Prospects For Growth. There are a few statistics provided by history professor Allan C. Carlson, who in 1988 calculated that an average person costs from birth to eighteen, and then from 65 until death around $192,600 (remember that key word "average"). This figure stands regardless whether one person was employed and another wasn't.

"But the same average person will occasion the production directly and indirectly, of goods and services with average worth, if a male, of $55,277 per year; if a female, of $26,680 per year every year from age eighteen to age sixty-five."

This according to Beisner meant the average male produced $2,598,019 worth of goods and services during his lifetime, and a female, $1,253,960 in her lifetime. Now subtract the cost of each individual from what he/she produces and as a net worth to society the average male produces $2,405,419 in goods and the female, $1,061,360. Do you kind of get the drift? That's a lot of money from ONE male and ONE female in the early 1990's. Since then the dollar's value has plummeted drastically due to inflation, and has traded quality for quantity.

By 2005 the abortion industry was claiming the lives of some 1.2 million babies annually. This according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute statistics was a decrease from 1990's 1.5-1.6 million abortions. Yet researcher Dennis M. Howard still claimed that abortions have cost the U.S. GDP more than $35 trillion! To me that seems a bit of an exaggeration. Averages are never fully accurate. Nevertheless, I would not doubt it is in the trillions. Beisner calculated in 1990 that by 2007 the combined annual loss to society would reach $542,054,670,000 and continue to grow. Remember that these would be in constant 1987 dollars. And it's not just the general public that loses. Taxes are another issue.The federal revenue by Beisner's calculations would lose $108,410,930,000 annually by 2007. By 2017 (just a few years away) those losses would exceed $1 trillion annually to society and about $200 billion to federal revenue.

Again and for the last time I want to emphasize that these are averages. There are still factors that may or may not have been brought into the equation such as natural disasters, diseases which may wipe out a part of the population, birth rates of different races, etc. It can never be fully accurate. One statistic provided below claims that 50.5 million abortions have cost the nation $35-$70 trillion. Playing around with that many numbers sounds suspicious. However, every statistic I found exceeds $3 trillion. Wanna know what 1 trillion looks like? Here are other interesting facts I found off the wonderful web. "1 trillion dollars can fund the military of every NATO country combined." "1 trillion dollars can pay for every U.S. military intervention and war since 9/11." And of course there are a lot more.

Now with these diagrams in your mind, try to picture $3 trillion. And if you're more confident than I am in Dennis M. Howard, try to imagine $35 trillion! The point is, these numbers should be sobering. And the fact that generations produce more generations means that economic losses from 50 million abortions are incalculable.

Rebelution Tour 2011

The idea for this blog was inspired by authors Alex and Brett Harris, who wrote a book called Do Hard Things, to challenge teens (and others) to rebel against low expectations placed on them by modern society. They called this idea the Rebelution.

Every year, Alex and Brett tour the U.S. in a series of conferences. This year, unfortunately, will be their last tour. They will be coming to Orlando, Florida; Williamsport, Pennsylvania; San Diego, California; Portland, Oregon; Kansas City, Kansas; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

It is an amazing encouragement in the arena of pro-choice vs. pro-life.

You go up to the counter knowing what you want, but before you ask for the burger the cash register lady gives you a menu with the following: "We do not sell indian food, pizza, fettuccini alfredo, frog legs, wines, beer, or any order in the realm of the disgusting besides Doctor Pepper. We do not provide anything other than food and beverages. We do not..." You get the point. Not only that, you noticed on the way in a ridiculous poster on the wall with the entire menu of what they DO provide, eventhough it's clearly visible above the counter. On top of that, the poster is in six or seven different languages.

Section 5: These precautionary measures can be beneficial, but again, what is the reason to enforce them by law if Care Net did not violate them?

Section 6: If none of the previous sections have made your blood boil, this one should. If this section passes Care Net will likely go bankrupt in a matter of months. Notice that there aren't any provisions defending Care Net. And it wouldn't matter if these same ridiculous figures were required of Planned Parenthood to pay because of its multi-million dollar industry. Care Net on the other hand is non-profit.

Section 7: This is a small taste of politics. Of course, if pro-abortionists don't get all that they want, at least they'll get some or most of it.

Section 8: For those of you who are wondering, Title 70 RCW is a title on Washington State public health and safety.

Now it's very likely that this bill will not pass the House and Senate. It is so badly written and "full of holes" that pro-abortionists would have a tough time supporting it. Problem is, they'll just make a new one next year, and the next year, and the next year, until something does pass. So the battle isn't over even if this bill is struck down.

Faulty Premise=Faulty Bill

I have an article below this one summarizing House Bill 1366. If I missed anything important let me know (I actually have a copy of it). Don't read this article until you've read the bill.

Now to look at each section of House Bill 1366 in a little more detail.

Section 1: Notice that limited service pregnancy centers is a universal concept. If I were to introduce a new pregnancy service provider but only have half the recources or services as Planned Parenthood, I would have to undergo the following restrictions/applications as Care Net if this bill and others like it were to pass. Notice also that abortion providers like Planned Parenthood or abortion promoters like NAF (national abortion federation) have subtly set themselves as the pregnancy service standard. Why? Because PP supposedly isn't "limited." Nowhere in this bill do PP or other aboriton providers have to undergo the same requirements.

Section 2: I agree that Health Care is important and that private information must be protected, but here's the problem. "Some limited service pregnancy centers have misled people about the nature of their services and improperly used patient health care information." This is a direct quote. Now I as an observer would like to know HOW limited service pregnancy centers (LSPC's) have deserved this accusation. Be specific! Understand that this is THE premise for the entire bill. It could just as well have read, "Since some LSPC's have misled people about their services and improperly used patient health care information, they must..." And another thing, notice the big word "some." Are there any LSPC's in particular they would care to mention?

"Limited pregnancy centers operating in WA state must provide truthful information about services they offer and properly respect a person's health care information." I love hypocritical statements like these. Have you seen the youtube video a couple articles below this one? It would be a nice thing to check up on.

Section 3: These are definitions applied to the rest of the bill.

1. "Comprehensive birth control services" means the medical evaluation and care related to the prescription or provision of contraceptive drugs/devices, and includes the provision of nondirective counseling on methods and efficacy of contraception, and the prescription or provision of contraceptive drugs or devices." Blahblahblah.

2. "Limited service pregnancy center" means an organization that advertises, offers, or provides pregnancy tests/ultrasounds, and information about adoption or abortion, whether for a fee or as a free service, but does not provide the following: prenatal medical care, comprehensive birth control services, and abortion or referrals for abortion. "LSPC" does not include health care entities licensed under Title 18 RCW, hospitals and entities licensed under Title 70 RCW, or health care providers licensed under Title 18 RCW. A LSPC remains subject to provisions of this chapter notwithstanding the presence of a licensed health care provider in the governance of, on the staff of, or acting as a volunteer with the LSPC. Whew! Told you I couldn't summarize it!

3. "Primary languages" means the most frequently spoken languages in the county in which the LSPC is located, and includes at a minimum English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian, and Chinese. (This part about "primary languages" is particularly important for future reference.)

Okay, why am I listing all of this for you? It's to show how these people target limited service pregnancy centers specifically. Once they are sure that LSPC's are misguiding people, they are very detailed in their requirements. We'll proceed with the next sections shortly.

Care Net Crisis

House Bill 1366 is the newest approach pro-abortionists have taken action against our Care Net centers. The issues in this particular bill are being debated upon in our state of Washington, but there are many forms of it circulating around the country. I have the bill right here in front of me and I will try my very best to summarize it for you.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

Section 1: This chapter may be known and cited as the limited service pregnancy center accountability act.

Section 2: Seeking or obtaining health care is fundamental to public health and safety; Health care information is personal and if improperly used may do significant harm to the patient; and some limited service pregnancy centers have misled people about the nature of their services and improperly used patient health care information.

Limited pregnancy centers operating in WA state must provide truthful information about services they offer and properly respect a person's health care information.

Section 3: (This section is beyond my ability to summarize without rewriting it in its entirety. It provides definitions used in the rest of the bill, which we will cover in a later article.)

Section 4: A limited service pregnancy center shall make the following disclosures to those who seek services: 1. a)doesn't provide abortion/birth control services; b)does not give referrals to abortion providers/birth control services; c) does not provide medical care for pregnant women. 2. they must also provide verbally and in writing information about their services in all primary languages, thirty-point font size +, on eight and one-half inch by eleven inch paper +, posted inside and outside the building. 3. a LSPC (limited service pregnancy center) shall inform visitor that the pregnancy test is an over-the-counter product and may be self-administered.

Section 5: 1. A LSPC may not disclose health care information to any but the owner without recipient's written authorization. 2. A LSPC shall provide person tested with a free written statement of pregnancy test results in English and in the person's primary language immediately after completion of the test. 3. A LSPN shall provide a recipient's recorded health care information if requested for examination or copying, and inform recipient if it does not have said information.

Section 6: 1. Any person aggrieved by a violation of this bill may bring a civil action against a LSPC in SUPERIOR COURT to enjoin violations, recover damages sustained, together with costs of the suit and reasonable attorneys' fees. The court may, in its discretion, increase the award of damages to an amound not to exceed THREE TIMES the actual damages sustained. For the purpose of this section, "person" includes counties or other municipalities. 2. The court may in addition to damages impose on a liable party a civil fine of one thousand dollars max. to be paid to the plaintiff.

Section 7: If any part of this act is held invalid the remainder of the act is not affected.

Section 8: Section 1-7 of this act constitute a new chapter in Title 70 RCW.

House Bill 1366 passed the Committee on Health Care & Wellness Thursday Feb. 10, 2011. I assume it will now be debated in the House.

This last article got fairly long so I split it into two.

Now here is what I don't understand. Abortion is a massive industry in this country alone. Why then must pro-choice activists still behave so radically? Why must they lie about pro-lifers as if we were wolves in sheeps clothing? In other words, what more do they want? They have money. They have government support. They have influence and reputation favored by millions of Americans. Yet they continually struggle as if they were the minority and persecuted by those who disagree with them.

"...what do antis think they’re doing for their movement by being hostile and divisive?"

"I call them anti-choice advocates because that is what they are."

"Abortion providers are on the front lines of the critical struggle to ensure that abortion is safe and accessible. They regularly defend women's lives and health against aggressive abortion opponents seeking to deprive women access to safe abortion care."

"I find it insulting how everybody is "anti-choice" and interested in destroying women's rights and whatnot..."

"On Ash Wednesday, a traditional day for believers to repent, anti-choicers kicked off the “40 Days for Life” protests, so believers can avoid focusing on their own sin and instead scream at others for perceived sexual sin, while also avoiding thinking about their own mortality by demanding others give life against their will."

These and many more quotes available on our friend the Internet (just as a side, if you read these kinds of articles and look at the comments below them you may notice a lot of language being used to emphasize points. I noticed a lot of f-bombs among other things, which goes to show the anger displayed on these pages).

How far is the pro-choice movement willing to go? Will they be satisfied once every woman in the country decides to have abortions as an alternative to raising children? Will those who care about babies' lives have to be utterly silenced and forgotten so that peace may reign? Or is it that PP feels the pro-life movement is its biggest business competitor? Maybe we should give St. Joseph's hospital a new name. I like Women's Rights Hospital myself.

What Next?

What is the motivation of pro-choice activists? I read pro-abortion/feminist blogs and planned parenthood websites and all that comes out of them are anger, malice, defiance, and indignation. An exception is made when they talk about people being happy in relationships and having healthy bodies (i.e. this quote came up multiple times in a general PP website, "Only you can decide what is best for you. And we are here to help"). There is a kind of arrogance that follows these people around. Here are a couple examples starting with this bit of news on St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Pheonix.

In summary, St. Joseph's is Catholic in origin. When senior administrator Sister Margaret McBride approved of an abortion in order to save the mother's life, McBride was excommunicated by Bishop Olmstead and St. Joseph's was no longer considered Catholic by a number of people. Olmstead argued that doctors had not tried to save the life of mother and baby.

Now I really don't know who's right in this event. It doesn't sound like Olmstead is a doctor (therefore not an authority), nor do I see any reason why doctors would WANT to have the baby aborted other than to save the mother's life. But I digress.

A couple days ago I looked up a pro-choice blog called Alas, a Blog. Besides the confusing title it had a snippet from the Washington Post about this story and then commented below.

"The Catholic Church should get out of the hospital business. Their religion forbids them from providing necessary care; that means they shouldn’t be involved with running hospitals at all."

Rrrright. In fact while we're at it, let's remove Catholic Church influence out of all our school systems. Then we'll get rid of their presence in technological and political fields so that they don't have any say in providing limited care. Isn't this a free country? Doesn't religion only hamper our free minded policies?

Oh I forgot to mention. there is a Phoenix Baptist Hospital in town. If this same situation had happened there what would be the reaction? No difference, except that Catholics would stay and Protestants would be flushed down the toilet marked "For Bigots."

Then there's this little article from Feministe about some TV show called 16 & Pregnant, "I’m also sure that the young women who have abortions will not be warmly received by many members of the "pro-life” community...It’s important for women to know that no matter what their story and what reproductive choices they make, they are supported." Just for the record, some of you might be wondering if I look specifically for a couple of these quotes to eek out what little material I find and then nail the authors with counterarguments. The answer is "no." My examples above are just a fraction of the material I could use. If you take the time with some of the links below you'll see that this emotional factor is everywhere. I really feel as if somehow I persecute women after reading this garbage.

Seattle Abortion Clinic Closes!

On Monday, November 15th, Seattle's very first abortion clinic-Cedar Women's Clinic, opened over 31 years ago-was closed down. According to Beverly Whipple, one of the clinic's founders, "There isn't the patient volume for two main providers." The other provider is Planned Parenthood. The Operation Rescue spokesperson Cheryl Sullenger says this is "great news for women and their pre-born babies" because of a "dramatic decrease in the demand for abortions." The facts seem to support this statement.

The Washington State Health Department says that the abortion rate for all women aged 15-44 used to be 18 per 1,000 in 2008, and is 16.7 per 1,000 now.
There have been 22,642 abortions in Washington, a 6.7 percent decrease since last year.
Operation Rescue found that over two-thirds of the amount of American abortion clinics in 1991 (2,100) have closed.
The current rate of abortion clinics' closing in the past year is about 2 per month!

I know I keep harping on 40 Days For Life, but...who cares? Out of all Pro-life organizations it is definitely one to keep in touch with. Does this following article fit into my series which you're probably dying to be done with by now? Yes, but this is an argument with your own mind rather than a fellow human being.

A few weeks ago, about the same time that the words "Seattle abortion clinic shut down" caught my eyes, I was told that 40 DFL had saved 9 lives through prayer and petition. All said and done, one might be tempted to be discouraged. "After all," you think, "aren't millions of abortions actively supported annually in the U.S. alone?"

To teenagers the ratio of nine to millions is quite a gap. As young people we tend to view the world subjectively and not consider those few children that were saved. But think about it for a moment. In a few years nine will have turned into nineteen, then thirty-five, then fifty, etc. This brings up an interesting question: just how many lives were saved? The number could be endless.

Do not think there are slim pickings among the fruits of our labor. Such doubting leads to despair and leaves a person wondering why he even bothers being actively Pro-life. This is one of those times that the future is on our side. I by no means want to disregard or forget those babies who have suffered at the hands of abortionists, but it is still very possible one day to tip the scales of the number of aborted children versus the ones who were saved. Wouldn't it be something if just those nine babies started it all?

First the update. About two weeks ago John Leslie, a campaign director of the 40 Days For Life, emailed to say that an abortion clinic nearest U.W. in Seattle has completely shut down! I realize this news has been circulating now for the better half of a month but better to write late than never. Let's hope more abortion clinics soon follow suit. Say, "Hasta la bye bye!"

Let's keep a continuous stream of petition going up to heaven and laying our prayers at the Lord's feet. God is doing marvels!

Second is our new members. We soon hope to get a few of our freshmen an opportunity to write on Worth Fighting For. However, they will be using wordpress instead of blogspot. Me, Myself, and I Am

As I become more and more aware of how popular and prevalent abortion is in our society, the more I want to ask the question, “Why?” But the question isn’t, “why do people have abortions?” Rather it is, “Why do people who are honest with themselves and God not fight abortion as vigorously as they should?” Granted there are many people who spend their entire lives fighting this evil, but there are just as many others who are indifferent or put in minimal effort.

Let‘s say someone approaches you and says, “Okay, abortion is wrong, but there are already others who are organized to deal with it. Don’t get all wound up about it. Besides, you might end up offending a lot of people and cause more damage than good.” What would you say to them?

Well, it depends on what your understanding of the Pro-life movement and the Scriptures really is. If you consider Pro-life as merely a charity organization reaching out to those in need and saving the unborn, you only have half of the picture. Plus, you may not recognize that the person above is really asking you, "What could possibly tempt you/me to aid pro-life activists?" or even, “If I join the Pro-life movement, what’s in it for me?”

Keep in mind that being Pro-life is not charity. It is a mission. A Christian fighting for the lives of both baby and mother is constantly aware of a spiritual battle between Christ, the devil, and our sinful hearts. So when one asks in so many words, “What’s in it for me?” it sounds ridiculous and unabashedly selfish. The soldier in battle does not look after his own skin and comfort. He is there at the command of his superior officers and their orders. So what are our orders?

How about Matt. 19:14 which says, "...Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." One might think that this verse has been taken out of context of the original passage. I say it hasn't, knowing that infants in the womb are children, the message is still the same no matter what critics think.

Now that our command has been clearly stated, what might be used as both a warning and encouragement for those who do not consider it motivating? (I like to think of Darth Vader's quote: "Then perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them!). 1 John 3:4 says, “Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness”…and 1 John 3:8, “Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning…” I can gaurantee that nobody wants to be "of the devil." But if there is a warning, there is also a blessing for those who do His commands. Dt. 7:9 states, "Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations..."

This all leads to an elongated response to your friend’s (or enemy’s) criticism. The bottom line is, if God rewards man in this life or the next it is not the ultimate goal. Glory and love for God is. "Me" is merely the tool for I Am's work and not the focus. So from a purely human perspective there is nothing for Me. I Am is the potter and Me is the clay.

If you are certain that abortion is the work of Beelzebub, and that God has called His children to uphold His laws and statutes, are you willing to do more than your fair share to preserving God’s image? Are you ready to spread the news of the gospel to desperate mothers, fathers, and the will-be-born even if they may hate you or reject His message? Will you trample Me and Myself to smithereens and cling to I Am? Then what are you waiting for?

It’s a shame I didn’t remember to post this sooner, but here is a look at our schedule for tomorrow.

We plan to participate in the annual 4US event Sep. 25 at Owens Beach in Tacoma. If you are not familiar with this particular organization here are some informational tidbits to gather:

4US is split into many events from riding, to running, to reading, to baking. Its primary concern is to raise money to buy advanced ultrasound equipment for Care Net pregnancy centers (especially in the Puget Sound area). Participants must register since it is a fund raiser and can then join the pancake breakfast or whatever precedes the activities.

Christ and Choice

This is just a thought that came to me. Did Mary ever complain to God that she was a slave to her fetus Jesus? Did she gripe about her rights being ignored by a “forceful” and “unrelenting” God?

I’m sure there were plenty of inconveniences that came with having baby Jesus. Joseph had originally planned to call off his engagement with Mary so she wouldn’t be embarrassed. Why? Because they weren’t married yet! Mary was most likely shunned and or taunted from behind her back. In her day as in ours she would have been considered promiscuous and an adulteress (although it meant much more back then). In that context it was worse than being raped, because then she could have made an excuse for the pregnancy.

“Oh, God came to me and said I was to give birth to the Messiah.” Right. How many people do you think believed her? And would you believe a friend today if she told you such a thing after becoming impregnated?

So why did Mary rejoice instead of complain about this “good news?” I can imagine a pro-abortion friend saying to Mary, “You know, you don’t have to be embarrassed about this kind of thing. Our latest technology is so good Joseph won’t even know what happened.”

And it’s bologna to say that people thousands of years ago didn’t have options to having “safe” or fetal abortions. They were optional before Mary’s time by at least a couple centuries. For a Scripture reference, Ex. 1:15-17 comes to mind. “Then the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah and the other Puah, ‘When you serve as a midwife to the Hebrew women and see them on the birthstool, if it is a son, you shall kill him, but if it is a daughter, she shall live.’ But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but let the male children live (ESV).” For historical evidence read the italics below.

Assuming that Mary underwent pressure to terminate a child born literally outside wedlock, and knowing that abortions were optional; is it just coincidence that she instead sang a song of thanksgiving and praise to God for His blessings (Luke 1:46-55 ESV)? Did she doubt the prophecy of the Messiah or resist God‘s purpose? No. Then why should a woman abort a child today? To me, “women must have a right to control their own bodies,” is not a satisfactory answer.

For historical references, type in “Abortion in Ancient Times” on the internet and you should get a long list. Maybe you have an encyclopedia with relevant information. All I will mention is that one of the main tools for abortion was poisonous herbs. The rest is for you to study.

Conversation: The Bad Kind

Even though I’ve just started on this series it can be difficult to pick illustrations that are not only applicable but also within reason. This next article will be drawn not just from informative imagination but from experience.

Let’s say that somebody has unabashedly decided to ignore my warning about gossip (don‘t worry, I‘ll forgive them). In fact it’s not just one but two people firing comments about an issue over a friend. You unhappily are caught in crossfire as you pass by. I have nothing against people with the names Sarah and Kim, but for the illustration’s sake we’ll use these ones.

Sarah: “Can you believe that…broke up with her boyfriend?”
Kim: “No way! What is she going to do with the baby?”
Sarah: “Do you think she of all people is going to let her parents know? They’ll flip!”
Kim: “Totally, I mean with that kind of problem she should have an abortion really soon.”
Sarah: “She’s such a moron! If she handled things better this might not have happened.”
Kim: “I mean, what if she actually…”

As you exit the premises you hear the two of them giggling. Now I have not heard conversation like this in the same context, but in some ways it was very similar and just as repugnant. But you’re probably thinking, “Yea, I’ve heard this one before. Beware of Lady Folly. Get the point over with Jonathan.” Ha!

Actually this isn’t a story about Sarah and Kim. Replace these two with masculine or one masculine and feminine name of your preference (say…John and Ryan) and read the script over again. Does it seem even more ugly than the original? Why or why not? And has anyone ever heard a guy’s giggle? I have.

I’ll explain why this may be more repulsive than a Sarah/Kim incident and then we’ll discuss why you should do absolutely nothing. Zip, nada, nine. Let’s get started.

First, the facts.

I don’t care what your religious view point is on the matter, but to Christians the man is always the leader. Whether it is in the household or the church pulpit, men take the role of the higher authority. God created man first. God created a woman from a man. “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, His body, and is Himself its Savior (Eph. 5:22-23).” Am I sexist? No. Do men and women have equal rights? Yes, but men are the head. There are some distinctions between rights and leadership. We are to submit, “to one another out of reverence for Christ (Eph. 5:21).” What is my point? John and Ryan are the epitome of callousness. They have taken for granted what everyone except a few psychopath feminists knows to be true. It is contemptible for a man young or old to laugh at abortion and at the one responsible for it; ultimately the woman. I’ll reiterate my point with some statistics.

How much influence do you think males have in an abortion decision? This can be the father, grandfather, husband, boyfriend, etc. Statistics from polls as far back as 1987-1988 showed that 14.1% of women were encouraged (or threatened) to have an abortion by a family member(s) or partner of the opposite sex. That number rose to as much as 40% in 2003 and is currently hanging (to the disappointment of some) at about 39-43% (Although some sources claim higher). I say they’re disappointed because, whoever they are, they prefer more men to take a stand with the pro-abortion feminists. To me, numbers haven’t dropped significantly enough. Think about it. 40% of millions of abortions have been induced by men who care nothing for God’s image. In spite of that, whether they know it or not, John and Ryan can only jeer.

Now here might be the hard part. Whether it is Sarah and Kim or John and Ryan, have nothing to do with this discussion. Many will feel obligated to butt in (I know I would), but you may not know the subject of the discussion, nor have you heard the entirety of it. Perhaps you misheard. And even if somehow you did hear the whole discussion, do you think that people with minds as focused on mischief as these will listen to your well intentioned impromptu arguments? Not likely. Only God can change the heart.

I said before that you should do nothing, but the one thing you should do is pray. Pray for the victim of the conversation. Pray for the gossipers behaving badly. Pray that the Lord will pour out His saving grace like a waterfall on every one of these people. Don’t be surprised if you see results.

The numerous arguments for abortion, many of which may be found on websites such as capitalism.org and abortionisprolife.com, mostly boil down to the convenience of the mother, as opposed to the life of the unborn child. One such argument claims that a fetus is no more than a potential human and not a human at all; and therefore has no legitimate claim to life if its mother does not want it. Abortion continues as convenience appeals to ignorance during the controversy over theories of when a fetus becomes a child, or if it is a child.
However, a fetus cannot be simply a “potential human” (see Life 2). Consider in this context the all-wise Word of God from Psalm 139:13-15. The Psalmist David says, “For you [God] created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.” The implication we can draw from the fact that he said “I” and “me” rather than “a piece of my future human body” is obvious: that since he was conceived, even before he was born it was still him, David; and that point at which nothingness becomes what we call a fetus is conception. The amount of words he spent on this subject is also telling; human life, whenever it begins, is a miracle.
There are many different ideas about when an unborn child is to be called such. The famous “wager” of Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) reasoned that if God exists, and you follow Him, then you will receive the richest reward of heaven when you die; and if He doesn't, when you die you will simply return to dust, yet will not have lost anything by believing in a nonexistent God. In Pascal's own words, “If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing.” But if you don't believe in God, and it turns out when you die that He actually does exist, you're in trouble. This argument may be applied to the controversy on when a fetus can rightly be considered a child. If upon conception a fetus is not really a child (which no one has proved), what have we to lose, save more or less convenience, by preventing its abortion? Because if a fetus actually is a child, and we permit his or her abortion, the blood of a human being clings unabsolved to our hands; we have sacrificed the life of a child to the idol of convenience.

Preparation

Let's say you learned from either a Care Net center, radio station, T.V. commercial, friend, family member, or even this blog that abortion is a bad thing. You think to yourself, “Nice bit of info., now what?”

It is important for all of us to be fully aware and prepared for a situation involving abortion. This may occur during a regular discussion with someone, requested advice from a friend, or maybe even a couple undergoing an unplanned pregnancy. There are a whole range of questions that could be asked, which if dealt with incorrectly will cause incalculable harm to the would be mother and baby.

I hope to begin a short series that analyzes specific situations in which people, especially teenagers, are exposed to the ugliness of abortion and learn how to deal with it firmly and lovingly both in reason and obedience to the Scriptures. The first of these articles is to the ladies, but I encourage the guys to read it as well. Keep in mind that many of these occurrences are illustrations and not history.

Ladies, a friend comes up to you in private and says she needs to get a load off her mind. You find a quiet spot to sit down and she begins telling you how last week she had an abortion. The only reason she’s spilling the beans is because of the guilt that she feels. Should you:

A.) Listen carefully; then say in a lighthearted manner, “don’t worry; everyone does it,”or, “it isn’t all that bad,” and end the discussion quickly so she doesn’t work into a frenzy.

B.) Ignore her completely and say that she’s upset over nothing.

C.) Say, “Don’t worry, God still loves you,” and try giving her further comfort.

D.) Be totally aghast that she could have done such a thing and refuse to help her.

E.) Tell her you’ll think about it and plan to talk over it with some of your other friends for advice.

F.) Ask a guy for advise.

G.) do none of the above.

This may be confusing to some, but the answer is none of the above. Here is why:

Letters a.) and b.) are easy ones. Not everybody has an abortion, yes it is a sin, and ignoring her fears is only going to lead her to despair.

Letter c.) is a bit harder to figure out. If you tell someone not to worry because God loves her, you call two things into question. First, you may give her the assumption that she can deliberately sin (which abortion is) and God will forgive her no matter what. The Bible is quick to disclaim this theory (Hebrews 10:26-27). Second, this statement overlooks the fact that God can be grieved (Isaiah 63:7-10). Giving your friend comfort in God’s love is the right thing to do, but here it is incomplete and likely to harm rather than help.

Letter d.) is obvious. Never turn down a friend because they put confidence in you involving a delicate subject. That not only takes bravery on their part, but it shows their level of trust in you. Don’t break it.

Another one of the tougher questions is e.). Like some teenagers you may find that you’re not as wise as you thought and it would be nice to get some feedback from other friends. Two heads are better than one right? Wrong! In this case stay clear from other friends as potential “helpers.” If the person you are trying to help asks for assistance from others that is a different matter, but she came to you specifically for a reason. I’m not a complete veteran on the communication systems in high schools, but I can tell you as a student with strict conviction that gossip gets spread much quicker among friends than anywhere else. That’s why I also advise young women who need to clear their consciences on this subject to choose one and only one friend/guide whom they can trust fully and stick with forever in confidence.

Ladies, if you need more counsel in order to help this friend who came to you, never-ever-ever-ever-ever go to a guy for it. You put him into a difficult position because he may not know the person you are talking about, her character, etc. If he does know her, he is liable to make her feel awkward by talking to her face to face, give you bad advise, or do something for her that she really doesn’t need. I mean this light-heartedly but seriously. A guy consoling your struggling friend with flowers won't help much.

After all those “don’ts” here is one of a few “do’s.” You can listen carefully to your friend and allow her to put the weight of her guilt on your shoulders. Ask for detail only if something is unclear and express sympathy only when she is finished. Talk to her about the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, not as a minister would, but as a comforter. Tell her that Christ died for sinners and that He is willing to grant forgiveness if she but asks and believes. Perhaps the person you’re talking to is actually a Christian who has made a big mistake and needs reminding. Pray with her. Read the Bible if you have one handy and find a passage that gives assurance of pardon to the one who puts his trust in Christ. A very well known passage is, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him (John 3:16-17)."

If you need instruction yourself about how to talk to this person, ask a parent/guardian or close relative. I said earlier that you shouldn’t include guys, but your father is definitely an exception. In fact he might be the best choice. If all you have is an elder brother, he too may be an exception and treated as a father, however it would be best that he has no direct connection with the person you are dealing with.

Make sure that the person who discloses these things to you knows that you are a friend and interested in her well being. Perhaps you‘re thinking, “Yea, but nobody I know of ever has this kind of problem.” I’m not saying they will. But don’t be caught off guard if a situation does arise.　　

I understand that some readers here may not be Christians. After reading this article my question to you is, how can you comfort someone who feels guilty about having an abortion if you have a god who is neither personal nor particularly loving? And why would you feel obligated to comfort this person if you don’t believe in God at all?

Concerns vs. Priorities

There may be some out there who have their priorities messed up. Here is a reminder of where real issues lie.

In our world today people have a range of concerns that are sometimes blown to the extreme. In the news media and talk radio stations, some of the largest of these concerns are British Petroleum, the American economy down the toilet, the democrats who didn’t keep their promises, and the republicans who sit on their butts wagging their fingers at the democrats. There’s the war in the Middle East, the North Korean missiles, etc. When I read or listen to things like these I have to say, “So what?” To say that the country’s economics are drastically changing is a mere distraction from something far more precious. Nations always rise and fall. What is more important, God‘s image, or politics? And what is more important, a child’s salvation, or the destruction of terrorists?

As I’ve done before, this article is particularly addressed to my family in Christ. One of the main reasons we as Christians fight abortion is that it is a desecration of God’s image. I’m going to take a slightly different route and explain another reason why we should fight to end abortion.

A secularist will not appreciate the deep importance of life, because he does not know what life is. The difference between us and him is that we look to a new Heaven and new earth at the last day. We believe in a thing called hell also. So it is not just the fleeting issues and concerns of the world today that are meaningful, but of the next. Let me ask my family this, are we looking to the spiritual life of the unborn as well as the mother?

Perhaps you‘re thinking, “But Jonathan, unborn babies don’t go to hell do they?” or even, “unborn babies are just unborn babies; they don’t go anywhere.”

Why you just brought up a great theological question! Do unborn babies go to heaven? Well I hope that by now you know when a baby is alive without me telling you directly (read LIFE 1&2 and RIGHTS: THE FALLACY Par. 6). Those articles are in answer to the latter statement. For the former question ‘do they go to hell?’ we have to read Ex. 20:6 (ESV). “You shall not bow down to them (idols) or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those (generations) who love me and keep my commandments.” While promising to show blessing to believing generations, yet it is still a warning to the unbeliever. And since an unborn baby himself is part of a generation, if he is of unsaved parents and never born, I wouldn’t be the least surprised if that child is damned. Please don’t misunderstand me. I am not a judge of who is saved and who is lost. No man is. Neither can man by himself save the spiritual life of a mother or child. But what if through the prevention of an abortion the mother, baby, or both receive not just material life, but true life from God through the working of His servants? To say, “Oh, let God deal with that abortion thing,” is foolhardy. Let us instead be instruments of God’s will, preserving His image and ministering to those who do not know Him.

So, what are you going to be concerned about? The close friend across the street considering having an abortion, or your next favorite presidential nominee getting the vote? Will you prioritize more on fighting the scandalous statements of death clinics like Planned Parenthood, or listening to the frenzied radio hosts batter the opposite political party to a bloody pulp? Your choice. God’s will. Their lives.

The Time for War

I don't make a habit of doing this, however I was very pleased when Eroica came up to me some time ago and gave me this poem she had just written. For those of you who don't know Eroica, she is always writing, reading, or playing violin/piano far beyond her requirements and enjoys it all. She's enthusiastic about almost everything (a trait that many of us sadly don't have).

We mourn our soldiers when we learn

GEAR Campaign

The GEAR (Gender Equality Architecture Reform) campaign has been introduced to the UN to consolidate four UN agencies into one, with a single under-security-general and $1 billion in funds (where do you think that will come from?). According to the UN, "the primary objective of the campaign is to convince national governments to support these civil society’s / women’s groups’ proposed initiatives in the deliberations of the UN General Assembly." The GEAR campaign endeavors to reduce maternal mortality by making abortion legal. Making abortion legal will make it a little bit safer for the women (only in the sense of modern medicine protecting against infection) but if we are trying to save mothers' lives, why not save the lives of the babies, some of them being future mothers? Making abortion absolutely illegal did work well for Chile, whose maternal mortality rate was 275 per 100,000 live births in 1960, and, because of stricter abortion laws in the 1980's, was reduced to 18.7 deaths per 100,000 live births. Extinction

Yes, we know that abortion is killing off our species, but we may not expect it to be so bad so soon. What is actually happening is that a race is being killed off rapidly at this moment. Abortions performed in the black community are 3x those performed in the white community, and 2x those performed in all other races combined. As shown by this graph (above; statistics from http://voiceofrevolution.askdrbrown.org/2009/01/18/abortion-statistics/) they are on their way to extinction. 458,500 of those are killed by abortion. Should we just stand by while these people are dying off?

Not only are abortion providers doing this, but encouraging it as well! Georgia Right to Life has begun a campaign to bring these facts before the community. Eighty of these billboard signs (above) have been placed in Georgia to open it no apostrophe! s eyes. This procedure makes me wonder if they are performing abortions on the black community because of their race. If this is so, and Obama is supporting this, it is against the racial tolerance already built up. Either way, abortion is not the solution, but the source of the problem.

Rights: The Fallacy

Abortion is done in the name of women, or more specifically, women’s rights. But here’s a question, just what kind of rights do abortionists want and what is so important about a women receiving them?

Before we begin, let’s define women’s abortion rights. 1. A woman has the right to do with her own body as she pleases (which assumes that the baby is either not alive or part of her body; both of which have been disproved). 2. A woman has the right to not be a mother if she so chooses. 3. Since women should be able to decide whether or not to bear children, abortion ought to be available to every would-be mother.

This may sound a bit confusing, but it ties into the general fallacy American culture is stumbling into.
Statistics: 1.6 percent of Americans claim to be atheistic or agnostic, however based on what they believe, 12 percent are atheistic/agnostic and another 12 percent of Americans believe in an impersonal God. The number of self proclaimed atheists has doubled since 2001 or so. According to ARIS (American Religious Identification Survey) a total of 15 percent say they don’t have any religion and their numbers are growing by hundreds of thousands annually. Meanwhile Christianity as well as other religions in the U.S. shrink annually in total members (save for the Muslims and possibly a few others).

Now you‘re probably already asking, ‘What on earth is the point of these statistics?”

To me, these statistics are extremely depressing (although not unexpected) because America is turning from a God centered mentality into an, ‘everyone’s opinion counts and no one should be prejudiced’ mindset. Those nominal Christians or even nominal pagans are figuring that there’s no point in holding on to religion when all they can see and do is in the here and now. So the number of "believers" falls. They are letting emotion, not truth rule what they stand for (including women abortion rights). As the faithful decrease, the faithless are on the rise. One blessing is that we can see who truly believes in Christ Jesus and who is only fooling himself.

What has all this to do with abortion? It is just this. Those who claim to have any form of religion and still practice or support abortions for women’s rights are frauds. If their religion states that they can determine when a fetus is alive or not and only those who don’t end up in the wrong womb will survive, I certainly don’t want to be a part of it. If a self proclaimed “Christian” believes in the abortion rights of women he is rebelling directly against God’s command to spare and help the weak wherever possible. More importantly he is contradicting Exodus 21: 22-24 (ESV), “When men strive together (fight each other) and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman’s husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life.” How can true Christians defend abortion rights when the UNBORN are clearly considered alive in scripture?

How about those pro-women's abortion rights people who don't "own a religion?"It is these growing number of non-religious, not the nominal religous communities that draw my attention.

What is atheism? No God. Period. Man lives as he pleases because someday that passing coffin will contain his body. He has no one to fear except men more powerful than himself and when he dies he will be nothing. Agnostics also fall into this category claiming that it is not provable that God could exist. Evolution, no matter how much it is twisted with religion can be associated with atheism primarily because humans evolved from a lower being, "a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form."But it does not claim that human life has meaning.

If one is an atheist or agnostic, how on earth can he fight for women’s rights? First of all, does a woman’s rights or even interests matter if she’s going to die within the next few years? Eventually, all people die, so why fight so strongly over women’s rights if their lives are meaningless?

Who gives people rights; the government? The government in our country only comes from the people serving under them and are appointed to positions. So is it the majority vote of people who give women rights? First of all the majority isn’t always right and second the majority of people will eventually die out to create a new majority. So majorities can change as peoples’ ancestors die out, which means it isn’t constant (or rather True).

Atheists, agnostics, and evolutionists cannot and will not prove that women have any rights because according to their “non-religion” nobody technically has rights. If on the other hand a “religious” person is for women’s abortion rights they are saying that they, not their god or God controls life. I’m not going to go in detail again whether a fetus is alive, but it is (view our previous articles for info.).

So what is the growing fallacy of post modern day America? Many more people are placing feelings above reason, and will only believe what they think should be right and true, not what is right. Basically, women should have abortion rights…but nothing seems to come to mind why except that it feels right. Personal feelings are: a woman should have a right to control her own body. Or put into English: a woman should be able to have intercourse without the responsibility of parenthood. Truth is: there are laws, regulations, and rights laid down by a higher being (God) which protect the life of the unborn as much as those of the born. Those laws are to be kept and protected by man, not replaced by his emotions.

What a Pain.

Abortion is a medical procedure-- not a walk in the park. This is code for “Even in the hands of a good doctor, there are many risks involved.” For one, there are physical complications that can arise during the procedure and shortly after. In some cases, there are complications that can occur a long time after the procedure and carry the risk of long-term effects. For these reasons, it is important to be well-informed. Let's take a look at some of the common risks associated with aborting a baby.

Pain. In early-term procedures, abortions are performed under a local anesthetic. Despite their use, it's not abnormal to experience sensations ranging from discomfort to pain during the procedure, the level varying from person to person. The procedure performed is also a factor (ex. a higher level of pain is associated with the abortion pill). Additionally, abdominal pain should be expected for a few days following the surgery.

Infection. All abortion procedures carry some risk of infection, however big or small. The most common infection is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). While this reproductive system infection is fairly common, it can have very serious effects if left untreated. It's common for abscesses to be formed by tissue disintegration and are surrounded by an inflamed area. Ectopic pregnancies, a complication of pregnancy in which the fertilized ovum is developed in tissue other than the uterine wall, are also very likely. Pain and infertility are other complications associated with PID.

Permanent damage. Termination procedures can sometimes result in damage to the reproductive organs, namely cervical laceration and uterine perforation. In rare cases, surgical tools can puncture the uterus and cause damage to nearby organs, such as the bladder. Any damage to the cervix and/or the uterus that is not immediately diagnosed can present future problems. Untreated uterine perforations sometimes require partial or full hysterectomies. A hysterectomy is the surgery excision of the uterus. Meanwhile, the scarring of reproductive organs can increase the risk of infertility or ectopic (tubal) pregnancy.
These are only THREE of the main after-effects of abortion.

Tonya, age 21, said, "I don't remember much of it because they gave me something to relax, through an IV. I do remember telling them that it hurt, even if I can't remember the pain it must have been very painful because if I am saying it hurt when I had something to relax me, it must have been horrible. When the abortion was finished they took me into the recovery room where several girls were. Bob [her boyfriend] was unable to come in with me because it would be uncomfortable for the other girls in there. The nurse asked me if I wanted to see what they took out and I said yes. It didn't look like much, but I felt emptiness. I was in pain for weeks afterwards, bad cramping and spotting. I called to make sure it was normal and they said as long as I don't have a fever it was."

Psychological Aftermath

Researchers investigating post-abortion reactions have reported women experiencing numerous emotions— relief being the only positive one. This emotion is understandable, especially in light of the fact that the majority of aborting women report feeling under the intense pressure to "get it over with."

Temporary feelings of relief are frequently followed by a period psychiatrists identify as emotional "paralysis," or post-abortion "numbness." Like shell-shocked soldiers, these women are unable to express or even feel their own emotions. Their focus is primarily on having survived the ordeal, and they are at least temporarily out of touch with their feelings.

Now, there have been studies done on this issue that show pregnancy is actually correlated with a dramatic decreased rate of suicide compared to non-pregnant women. This has led some psychiatrists to suggest that pregnancy somehow serves a psychologically protective role. The presence of another person to "live for" appears to reduce the suicidal impulses of a mentally disturbed or deeply depressed woman.

Although pregnancy weakens suicidal impulses, there is strong evidence that abortion dramatically increases the risk of suicide. In 1997, a government funded study of maternal deaths in Finland sent a tremor of worry through family planning agencies when it revealed that in the first year following an abortion, aborting women were 252% more likely to die compared to women who delivered and 76% more likely to die compared to women who had not been pregnant. Many of the extra deaths were due to suicide.

Sometimes a post-abortion suicide attempt is an impulsive act of despair. For example, 18-year-old "Susan" writes: "Two days after the abortion I wrote a suicide note to my parents and boyfriend. I just couldn't fathom how I could possibly live with the knowledge of what I had done. I killed my own baby! I went down to the basement and figured out how to shoot my father's pistol. Hysterical and crying I put the barrel of the gun into my mouth. All of a sudden I heard someone upstairs. For some reason my father had stopped by to pick up something. I stopped what I was doing and went upstairs. He saw that I was upset and asked me if I wanted to have lunch with him at noon. I felt I at least owed him lunch. By the time lunch was over I was too scared to do it."

Other times, the suicidal impulses result from years of repression, depression, and lost self-esteem. Granting the wish for suicide or abortion is not an aid to desperate people. It is abandonment. It is a false compassion that protects us from getting entangled in the "personal problems" of others. It is "cheap love." Reader, the above is only the psychological effect of abortion. How many deaths of Mothers are there in abortions? Here’s a quote I picked up, “In the years when there was an accurate reporting procedure, Oregon reported 14 deaths per 100,000 legal compared with Maryland’s 40 deaths per 100,000 abortions.”

Note: since many statistics range a bit according to actual count,bias, or different years in which procedures and polls were taken, I will stick to deaths caused during and after legal abortions (including suicide and post-abortion health issues), which will be discussed a little later.

Think of it this way: abortion is legal in every state, so take a number say, ten deaths of mothers having abortions in every state for every 100,000 abortions. From what I counted there are at least thirty countries where abortion is legal for social, economic, or “just because” reasons.

Since 1973 there have been more than 50 million abortions committed by the U.S. alone (legally). Now how many mothers does that make who lost their lives during this legalized procedure? Hmm. Take the fraction ten out of 100,000 and multiply it by 50,000,000 aaannnd… that’s five thousand women. Now since the other twenty nine countries or so don’t have the same population as the U.S., OR our magnificent health care, let’s be generous and multiply 5,000 of U.S. women by…twenty; to make the whole sum of women in the world. That’s one hundred thousand women who have died in the world from abortion related procedures since 1973 (legally).

What is one hundred THOUSAND people to you? I’m thinking that’s about what, one seventh the population of Seattle? How about the entire city of Bend Oregon? Or a third of Tacoma? These are just the women, people! And frankly, I’m sure most abortion clinics aren’t honest about their maternal (legal) fatality rates. And it’s not just “legals,” even more women die from illegal abortions. So the excuse is often, “well women do it anyway so we might as well legalize it and not oppose their choices.” Uh-uh. We’re fighting to end abortion, period. And we’re fighting to save women from drastic life threatening situations, period. So women do it anyway huh? What about rape? Lots of people do that, so should we as the compassionate American people legalize rape? I’m blown off my rocker!

Tens of thousands of women have died during or after an abortion due to depression and horror at what they've done. All for what? Some people blame “pro-lifers” for having no compassion on the women, only the children. Who’s got the blood on their hands?

Note: some may object to this post because health care is claimed to be so much safer nowadays and these are outdated facts. (Some do come from 2004-2005 statistics). Again this includes women who've died after aborted pregnancies from related causes. The details of numbers of suicides and others may be seen in a little while. It is not our intention to depress our readers, but to urge them on to continue this struggle that has been fought for decades.

The Ultrasound

So why focus on Ultrasound? I’m sure there are a lot of other projects Care Net needs done that could be beneficial. The thing is, an ultrasound is as much of a machine as it is an argument being brought to a would-be mother. Is it worth it to have an abortion?

Here are a few tidbits on ultrasound. The machine uses sound waves to bounce off parts off a person’s body (and if she’s pregnant a baby’s body too) and give a 3D or even 4D (3D with movement) image on a screen. What I think is so cool about this is that as far as I’ve read, ultrasound is completely safe and there are no health hazards either to the baby or the mother. The sites below are just a few of the sources I use.

Care Net offers this complex machine FREE. That in and of itself is impressive. Pro-choice activists may splutter all they want about how restrictions should be placed on organizations giving free ultrasounds (and they do)…here’s the deal ‘though. If someone is pro-abortion, but at the same time says women need to make their own choice, and there is an opportunity for someone to get a free, safe ultrasound, for heaven’s sake let them make a choice! Don’t fight against organizations that actually give ultrasounds for women in the attempt to stop convincing them to keep the baby; ‘cuz people, that’s what it does.

Does Care Net have a purpose with the ultrasound? I should say so! And yes, as many PP organizations fear, CN machines have convinced women who originally wanted to have an abortion to keep their babies. Care Net is not just about saving physical lives, but also spiritual lives. It is a ministry, not a full blown medical facility. Does this mean that they are somehow “cheating” by playing with a woman’s emotions with ultrasound pictures? Let me ask this; what does an ultrasound display? The facts. It is a tool to help a woman see what she is about to do. Nothing more, nothing less. Since a woman can’t see a baby inside her, ultrasound merely gives her a glimpse into what her decisions will lead to.

Here‘s the difference between Planned Parenthood‘s ultrasound uses and CN‘s. PP’s ultrasounds are meant for the doctor. Because abortion clinics are businesses, they want to see how old the baby is, what kind of procedure is needed, and ultimately how much money should they get for it all. The longer the pregnancy, the more costly abortions get. CN doesn’t do that. Ultrasound images are given to the mother; one of the more obvious reasons being that it’s her baby being dealt with! Note: that does not mean by any standards that the baby is somehow part of the mother. It has a life of its own.

Let me emphasize this: Care Net is a non-profit organization. If they give someone a free ultrasound, by all means support it. If anyone have doubts about the counseling Care Net gives about life and abortions, I won’t shoot him. But at least admit that if it is necessary for a woman to see what life is inside her in order to make a true, now-educated choice, let her see.

Okay, I really feel like picking on somebody right now. Two people come to mind, Ayn Rand and Dr. Peikoff and this website “Abortion is Pro life;” weird, huh? Somebody get a bucket of ice cuz I’m mad as an inferno! Here we go.

“A fetus is human,” so far so good, “in the sense that it contains human DNA;” okay a little touchy, “however, a fetus, like an embryo, is not a human being, as it has no means of independent physiological existence (as does a baby, child, or adult).” Ouch. “As such, it is a potential human being, just like an acorn is a potential oak tree. It contains all of the DNA of an oak tree, but it is not an oak tree.” Barf.

I don’t know, but two and two aren’t making four. Let’s get a few major points out of this.

Okay, the opening line is about the fetus being human in the sense of having the same DNA as anybody else. That phrase “in the sense” bugs me. Of course fetuses have the same DNA! What does that prove; that babies have the same cellular structure as any other adult they grow up to be? I thought so.

Second argument: a fetus is not a human being, as it has no means of independent physiological existence… So what about those people in the world deformed, mentally retarded, etc. who can’t survive on their own physiologically? They aren’t fetuses anymore, but have they somehow become dehumanized? And another thing, I have absolutely no clue as to the difference between human and human being. A farmer doesn’t say to a visitor, “That there is my box of chicken like filled eggs, and over there is the chicken!”

Third argument: fetuses are “potential” human beings, just like an acorn is a potential oak tree. For once draw a line. The example these people put forth is irrelevant: besides being made of cells and growth that is about all the similarities between man and plants ( i.e. trees do not have brains like the ones Peikoff and Rand trashed).

These two have made a very common error by interpreting the fetus as a bunch of live mindless tissue composed of DNA. People, let’s get one thing straight, we’re all made of DNA and tissue and just because something is smaller and less developed doesn’t make it less human. (I’m still developing and am human at the same time; imagine that!).

I’ll give one more quote from Peikoff and then shut-up on this subject. "All these forms of life have no rights. The characteristic of life is necessary to possess rights, but it alone is insufficient." And who are YOU, Peikoff, to tell Anyone what his or her rights are? If a fetus is human, as you have still not disproved, you sound like someone from the eighteenth century, except they applied your rule to other races! I mentioned the Negro Project in The History Lesson…see if you can connect the dots, people. These writers don’t argue that the fetus isn’t alive, unlike some. They take their arguments even further by defining life as meaningful only in certain stages, which makes absolutely no sense.

Answer: Actually, it is only classed as alive once it is independent of its mother. However, it is considered 'viable' (can live if born after this time) after 24 weeks gestation (six months).
Answer: The fetal period begins at the end of the 10th week of gestation (8th week of development) so clearly a fetus can not be alive prior to that. Apart from that, medically the first answer is correct.

The point is that these people have defined life in the way they think the most favorable to them. The woman up top claims that life of a baby is outside the womb. Others think that life is not prior to a 24 week gestation period, or perhaps after that.

I’m reading a book by Randy Alcorn entitled, “Why Pro-Life?” and how he described an ethics professor by the name of Peter Singer. Singer wrote, “The life of a fetus is of no greater value than the life of a nonhuman animal at a similar level of rationality, self-consciousness, awareness, capacity to feel, etc.”

Isn’t it obvious? The reason that a lot of people put numbers and dates on WHEN and HOW ALIVE a fetus is, is because that’s when they believe the baby is intelligent enough to be human. Rationality, self-consciousness, etc. are all signs of intelligence, nothing more. That video I have posted on the PP section is a perfect example. “It’s not a baby,” is repeated several times so the listener gets the full impact of what is being suggested.

So when is something alive? Does it have to grow, develop, and mature in intelligence? A fetus does that. What is intelligence? From what I understand it’s mainly the DNA structures inside a cell nucleus that define who that fetus (or rather baby) is going to grow up as. A fetus has that information stored immediately after fertilization of the egg. So is something alive based on how much it uses that information (intelligence)? Most would consider that a faulty argument because adults are smarter than children. Does that make them more human? Children are smarter than fetuses, does that make them more human?

What does Peter Singer's work actually do? Make up when things are alive so that patients aren’t ashamed of what they’ve done. Here’s a tip. The reason that people have different opinions on when a fetus is alive is because THEY DON’T KNOW! Here’s another tip. Planned Parenthood is a business, not a charity club. If they don’t know the definition of life other than what they want it to be, they will certainly not admit the truth. Like I’ve said earlier, this is a huge money making machine.

We have discussed briefly the origination of systems like Planned Parenthood and how Margaret Sanger's work played a key role in legalizing abortion in 1973. If your motto is, “The ends justify the means,” you may not want to read this article. Sanger’s original work is one of the main causes of more than forty million murders up to this day. If her “means” were bad enough (not just murder, but as I described earlier; murder of particular races) how much worse were the “ends” (a society which operates abortions almost anywhere in the country)? Care Net’s founders fortunately do not have that history on their shoulders. Let’s see how their history differs from those of the “pro-choice” movement.

In 1975, just two years after the Roe vs. Wade debate, evangelicals Dr. Harold O.J. Brown, his wife, Dr. C. Everett Koop, and theologian Francis Schaeffer put together an organization called the Christian Action Council (CAC). This system was bent solely on battling abortion and its advocates, but only through education. It was in 1980 that CAC was ready to open its first pregnancy center in Baltimore Maryland in active defiance of the abortion clinics which were spreading rapidly across the United States. They did not act alone, but supported crisis pregnancy centers in later years and were joined by the emerging Focus on the Family, among others. By about 1993-1994ish CAC had renamed itself Care Net and spread to multiple states incorporating more and more volunteers. To the present day Care Net supports over 1,000 centers in the U.S. What is more amazing is that it was and is a non-profit organization.

What has Care Net done? Care Net has saved thousands of lives, including a few mothers. It has been the means by which some women have professed faith in Christ, and displayed the love of Christ to others in their ministry. What has abortion done? Murdered babies and mothers (whether legal or illegal), become a consumer of citizen income, degraded the treatment of fetuses to that of an animal or even mindless tissue, and perverted unwanted pregnancies to that of a mere inconvenience or embarrassment. That's history for you!

Planned Parenthood first found its beginnings in 1916 by a woman named Margaret Sanger. She was a eugenicist (one who wanted the perfect race of people by weeding out the weak; just like Hitler) and proudly advertised her work as, "nothing more or less than the facilitation of the process of weeding out the unfit, of preventing the birth of defectives or those who will become defectives." During the 1920’s it is hard to imagine that this woman could ever have been so popular, but her business and name with it grew. Just fifty years later abortion was legalized in the U.S., much of which from the mindset she had created. She did not suggest that having children was “bad,” however, “Possibly drastic and Spartan methods may be forced upon society if it continues complacently to encourage the chance and chaotic breeding that has resulted from our stupidly cruel sentimentalism."

Now eugenics often meant that according to the person who believed in it, certain races would need to be exterminated. Was Margaret Sanger a racist? Ever hear of the Negro Project? Quote-"We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the minister is the man who can straighten out the idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."

A Health and Human Services Administration report claimed that at least forty-three percent of all abortions are performed on Blacks and another ten percent on Hispanics. This, even though in America blacks make up only about eleven percent of the total population and Hispanics at just eight percent. Another survey by National Academy of Sciences investigation claimed: thirty-two percent of the entire abortion rate are enacted on minority groups.

The modern day PP would obviously not claim to be racist. They do not have quite the same values as Sanger did, especially involving relationships. PP now says, if it feels right, go for it, and posts tantalizing pictures on blogs and web pages that I would consider just above pornographic! I feel no need to show such sites of this kind even if to verify the material.

All of this, and yet Planned Parenthood is the leading organization for abortions, performs more than one million abortions annually, and gains an estimate of three to four hundred million dollars a year for its services! Okay, so you’re thinking, “Alright Jonathan you are sounding like AT&T mobile by first dissing Verizon and then planting your own screwy ad in. I would have to say, Not At All. In fact there is something similar between these two organizations. Not that they’re the same, but they start with the same principle. There are women out there who have not anticipated being pregnant and they need practical help and an education of sorts. The difference is WHICH practical help do you give them and WHAT KIND of education?

Planned Parenthood calls itself a pro-choice, (or as I like to call it) “pro-death” movement. It sounds radical, but sometimes bluntness is necessary. Care Net is pro-life. They do not force women to have babies they can’t take care of. Instead they refer them to doctors and adoption centers where the children can be taken care of. “Free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, abortion information, parenting classes, and material assistance are just some of the many services offered that empower women to choose life.”

This is an organization that encourages Christ’s calling to populate and subdue the earth. Babies aren’t considered dispensable or unwanted property that end up being a burden to care for. It explains why an abortion can cause so much pain in a would be parent’s life for killing all the joy and life that comes from having a child. Care Net also gives an education. Not Real Sex Ed like PP, but an education on how to be a parent to a child. People can’t imagine what it is like to have their own child in their arms without it actually happening to them. Do not be mistaken, parenting IS a very hard job, but killing an innocent child by no means is a solution to the problem.

Ultimately, Care Net means to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ to the nations. He doesn’t want His creation to rid itself of its own existence, He wants the returned love, praise and faith for the sacrifice He made to rid the earth of sin and death. Is this so hard to choose over having an abortion?

Most if not all teenagers recognize the words Planned Parenthood, an organization used in many parts to give “freedom” to women by aborting unwanted babies or “fetuses.” As Christians, we are naturally appalled by this legal form of killing, but to others the significance is not felt so strongly. Obviously to an unbeliever it is natural to want a woman to do what she wants and not be prevented to get rid of a burden by those “extremists.” Planned Parenthood seems at first to be a just cause, however let’s look a little deeper into the organizations purposes.

“Our goal is to ensure every individual has access to preventive reproductive healthcare and education in order to make thoughtful and responsible decisions regarding sexuality and parenthood”-
First of all, there is the obvious question about parenthood that is “planned” or “decided.” What is the definition of a parent? If they just wanted to get to the point, why not say, “responsible decisions regarding sexuality and not dealing with being a parent.”
Secondly, let’s give the Christian prospective. “Our goal is to ensure every individual has access to preventive reproductive…STOP! -excuse me? Here is the direct statement from Genesis 1:28 as God is talking to Adam and Eve, “And God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth…”-ESV Maybe there’s a slight contradiction to say the least.
Okay, but that was only one quote off some random Internet site. You can’t tell me that All Planned Parenthood is as you describe it. Well read this off of another website:
“Women must be able to access health care without fear of violence, harassment, or intimidation.”
From all reports it seems that the women who become pregnant are more afraid of that fact than anything else. Intimidation? The only intimidation is the fact that they will be sorely humiliated if “found out” by parents and the like. And we can sympathize with them. Obviously it is a heavy burden that no one wants to carry, but is killing a baby the answer?

Affordable Birth Control? Let me just say that there is no price on a human life except that which Christ paid on a horrific cross. Apparentally killing somebody is getting too expensive nowadays. (Maybe it's the inflation problem going around).
The whole twist on Global Reproductive Rights is that nothing is being “reproduced.” It is a nice way of saying, “if you have an unborn kid you don’t want, we’ll...take care of him for a price.”
Fighting for Real Sex Education makes no sense if you want to abort a baby. If intercourse is something that happens BEFORE the baby is to be born, why educate people about it, unless you want people to pay you for their having intercourse?
What looks like true freedom of making decisions ends up being a money grabbing organization that makes outrageous claims of Women’s Rights to murder their own children. Furthermore, anyone who doesn’t agree with them is an “extremist.”
“Anti-choice extremists do everything they can to prevent women and men from taking charge of their lives. If these radicals truly were concerned about women and families, they would work with Planned Parenthood to reduce unintended pregnancy in the first place by doing the only thing that works — increasing access to affordable birth control and comprehensive sex education.”
Sad isn’t it. The point is we truly are concerned for those “women and families” because you can’t have “women and families” if they’re being aborted!!!
Now Planned Parenthood isn’t the only organization out there “planning” whether women give birth or not. The other one, which we are currently supporting is called Care Net, and it is now time to delve into this group a little bit.

So you may be wondering, “Who are these kids and why on earth should I spend my time reading their blog?” The fact is we’re teenagers (just like many of you) who have written a blog (just like many of you), BUT have a special purpose in mind. Our ideas about Care Net and other causes originate from two Christian twins, Alex and Brett Harris, who challenge teenagers all over the world to free themselves from their chains.

“Come to the point, I don’t have chains!”

The chains we’re talking about are those of comfort, inactivity, the same ol’ same ol’. Alex and Brett encourage teens to “Do Hard Things,” which is their book published recently. Although doing hard things may at first sound coarse, irritating, boring, or just downright intolerable, there are immense benefits that are produced from it. The fact is there is a mindset among post modern people that teenagers are no good for anything, eat like pigs, and watch T.V. all day.
